Ofsted Report
Cornfield is a ‘Good’ School
In January 2026, Cornfield School was proud to be one of the first Special Schools in the country to be inspected under the new Ofsted framework.
Our recent inspection highlighted the strong relationships that are at the heart of our school, with pupils feeling happy, safe and well cared for. Staff know pupils exceptionally well and work tirelessly to help them overcome barriers, build confidence and develop positive attitudes to learning.
The inspectors found that Cornfield has a calm and purposeful atmosphere, which underpins daily life. Pupils behave well, engage positively with their learning and benefit from clear routines and high expectations. The school has a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, which helps pupils develop resilience, independence and effective strategies to manage their behaviour—key skills that prepare them well for life beyond school.
The school was seen to offer a rich and engaging experience that extends far beyond the classroom. Pupils enjoy a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including trips, outdoor learning and a variety of clubs tailored to their interests. These experiences broaden horizons, develop talents and ensure pupils are excited about their education.
Inspectors felt that the school’s commitment to inclusion was a key strength. It was clear that we understand the individual needs of our pupils and provide targeted support to help them re-engage with learning and achieve success. This is reflected in the growing confidence of our pupils and the strong outcomes achieved by older students, who leave us with valuable qualifications and positive destinations.
As part of the various meetings, inspectors felt that Leaders have a clear vision for continued improvement and are ambitious for every pupil. With a dedicated staff team and a strong culture of care, Cornfield School is a place where pupils thrive, grow and are well prepared for their next steps.
Our school is on an exciting journey of continuous improvement, driven by ambitious leadership and a passionate staff team committed to achieving the very best for every pupil. We are proud of the inclusive, caring culture we have create, one where pupils feel happy, supported and ready to embrace their future.
